An evening to honor, recognize and serve those who serve When We Come Home
Army veteran and performance poet Kenny Carnes presents an evening of poetic story telling to honor, recognize and assist today's returning war veterans and their families. When We Come Home' is a rapid fire journey of rhyme and rhythm that weaves a portfolio of stories from three generations of American war fighters. A son returns home from Iraq as his grandfather recalls victories at Normandy while a father--caught in the middle--becomes lost in his voiceless shame trying to forget Vietnam. Three soldiers battle for personal resolution despite returning home to domestic unrest as they fight to unite their divided neighborhood. Following Carnes' performance an interactive discussion with veterans, local leaders and community organizers will enrich our exploration of how to best support veterans challenged by their readjustment process at home coming. Experience the spoken word event that loves truth and discovers the real meaning of...
"Support our Troops!"
"Carnes' highly stylized language pierces us like darts with feelings and observations we might otherwise resist."
